Historic maps

This page shows the Northern Broads as drawn by Ernest Suffling in about 1895. The quality of the map cannot really be shown on this web page, but below the large map is a section from it at much larger scale so you can appreciate the quality both of the original map drawing and the gentle restorative treatment it has undergone.

You can own a quality print of this map yourself, see below.

The sample below is reproduced at about twice life size so you can see the delicacy of the drawing and lettering. Truly a work of love and patience.

Prints of this map are available either mounted or rolled. The actual map area is 320mm wide x 235 mm tall ( 12 3/4″ x 9 1/4″) approx. When mounted the size is 440mm wide x 350mm tall (17 1/2″ x 14″). The map is reproduced to order using a eight colour printer for optimum colour purity and printed on to heavyweight (200 micron/ 230 gsm) premium Ultra Glossy photo paper. This combination brings out the brightness of the main colours whilst preserving the delicacy of the eggshell blues. Please use the special form on the “Contact Us” page for enquiries.
